My next camera was an Agfa Rapid and I started taking snaps from my family and trips. |

But in order to make good shoots I borrowed the Kodak Retina IIIc from my father and developed the black and white pictures in a darkroom I set up in a spare room at my school. |
|
| In 1976 I bought my first SLR, a second hand Olympus OM1. I started working in a darkroom again and re-discovered my hobby photography. |
|
| Less than two years later, in 1978, I bought the newly released OM2 from my first salary as a teacher and this camera accompanied me for 22 years until it broke down in Shanghai and I completely swapped to digital. |
One of the first ( 1978 in Nepal ) and one of the
last ( 2000 in Xi'an ) |

After having borrowed a digital Agfa camera from my school in February 1998 I became so obsessd with this medium that finally in April 1998 I bought a Minolta Dimage V, my first digital camera at Dixons, Oxford Street in London. For two years I ran both systems, chemical for the 'important pictures'and digital for the 'fun pictures'. |
All my photos on the pages about London, Oxford, Culham, Provence and Venice were taken with this camera. |
| Two years later in August 2000 the quality of the Minolta was not enough and after the break-down of my OM2 I was fascinated by the Sony DSC 505V which really served me well and did more than fun. The OM2 soon was repaired but never used afterwards. |
I started experimenting with this camera and enjoyed the quality of the pictures. See more...

| Again two years later, in October 2002 I bought the Nikon Colpix 5700 which I thought was better than the Sony, but only the maximum picture size (which I rarely use) was an improvement. The Carl Zeiss lens of the Sony definitely was better. |
